Direct Print is also called Flat Bed printing.  This is where the ink is applied directly to the board. It has some advantages and some dis-advantages.  The advantage is price, most cases if you want a lot of signs, this is the best and lowest cost way to make lots of signs, like yard signs.  Now the issue is that when you print double sided, you can see the image from the other side.  Plus you must print to a board, so stickers, wall wraps, etc. will not work with this technology.
